FaHCSIA helps to advance the status of women, through programs and services, and grants and funding for organisations providing services for women. The Office for Women has a key role in delivering services and in providing the principal focus of consultation between the women’s sector and Government.

The Paid Parental Leave scheme will only apply for new parents who are the primary carers of children born or adopted on or after 1 January 2011.
