Communities for Children Plus - the Australian Government has committed an additional $10 million to establish up to eight innovative integrated service delivery sites across Australia to reduce child abuse and neglect in disadvantaged communities and provide intensive early intervention services to an additional 1,200 children and families over four years in their local community. Communities for Children Plus will bring Australian, and State and Territory Government services together to address the risk factors for child abuse and neglect before they escalate.

The Australian Government is demonstrating national leadership by providing $10 million over four years to key projects to support the development of the evidence base and continuous improvement in services to protect children. This includes:
- The development of ambitious National Standards for Out of Home Care to ensure that all children who cannot be cared for by their parents receive the quality care and support they need for their wellbeing now, and into the future. National benchmarks will drive enhanced national consistency and lead to significant improvements in the quality of out of home care over time.
- A national research agenda for child protection which will ensure governments and non-government organisations deliver the best possible support to vulnerable children and families.
- Improved information sharing and data consistency to improve our understanding of children at risk of harm and ensure that vulnerable children and their families do not fall between the cracks.
- Workforce development projects including training and professional resources and tools to improve the capacity of all services working with families and children to identify children at risk early and respond appropriately.

Funding of $41.5M to provide an initial Commonwealth response to the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children, including:
- $12.5 million for a new national domestic violence and sexual assault telephone and online crisis service.
- $26 million for primary prevention activities including
- $9 million to improve the quality and uptake of respectful relationships programs for school age young people; and
- $17 million for social marketing focused on changing attitudes and behaviours that contribute to violence.
- Invest $3 million to support research on perpetrator treatment and the greater harmonisation of Federal and State and Territory laws.

$1.3M funding has also been provided to a number of community organisations for specific projects which will significantly improve outcomes for at risk children and young people:
- $175,000 for the National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect for a national survey of community attitudes to protecting children;
- $133,810 for Bravehearts to support White Balloon Day to raise awareness of child sexual abuse;
- $270,000 for Child Wise for a multi-media child abuse prevention program, with a focus on preventing child sexual abuse;
- $180,000 for Good Beginnings to expand their services, including working with families whose children have been removed from their care;
- $98,394 for the Secretariat of National Indigenous and Islander Child Care to deliver workshops on family violence in Indigenous communities;
- $341,000 for the Australian Childhood Foundation to print and distribute an information booklet for traumatised children , and a resource guide for schools and early childhood services to improve their response to traumatised children, especially those who have experienced sexual abuse
- $79,134 for Adults Surviving Child Abuse and to run national workshops for adult survivors of childhood abuse to aid recovery;
- $28,650 for Heartfelt House for workshops with adult survivors of child sexual abuse, their parents and spouses.

An additional $1.3 million over three years to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) to improve the current child protection data reporting system, including:
- Collection of unit record data to deliver a more accurate picture of child abuse and neglect in Australia.
- Working with state and territory child protection agencies to examine Australia's current reporting arrangements, commencing with a complete review of the Child Protection Australia report.

A $165,000 grant to the CREATE Foundation for the CREATE Your Future program:
- The CREATE Your Future website has been specifically developed for young people transitioning from care, targeting youth services and related departments to keep workers informed about the issues and services available to young people.
- The CREATE Your Future training package and train the trainer package as national resources. This will give agencies, services and government departments access to national resources that will assist young people during the transition process.
