Introduction

This Business Toolkit for Indigenous Women is produced following a recommendation from the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Gathering (NATSIWG). It is intended to inform and inspire Indigenous women in their aspirations to be successful business women. Six Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women kindly agreed to contribute their experiences on these topics and their comments are included in each Fact Sheet.

These women are:

1. Terri Janke: Sydney based solicitor and author.
2. Dr Anita Heiss: Sydney based author, poet and social commentator.
3. Rayleen Brown: Alice Springs based chef who runs Kungkas Can Cook catering service.
4. Kim Smith: owner of rural NSW based online quilting store.
5. Suzanne Thompson: Queensland based director of three companies providing cultural services and products.
6. Sharon Williams: owner of Sydney based cultural products and services provider Thulli Dreaming.

Ms Robynne Quiggin, founder of Vincent-Quiggin Legal & Consulting Services, led the development of the Toolkit. Robynne descended from the Wiradjuri people of central western New South Wales.
