1.1 Overview of purpose of Funding
The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) is seeking applications for funding for new and existing national women’s organisations with representation across a broad range of women’s groups (National Women's Alliances).

1.2 Amount of Funding Available
Funding will be for the period from 1 April 2010 until 30 June 2013 and will be subject to the execution of a Funding Agreement. (See Section 2.4)
The Base funding available for each National Women’s Alliance is:
- $48,000 (exclusive of GST) for the period 1 April to 30 June 2010
- $200,000 (exclusive of GST) from 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011, and
- the amount set out in paragraph (b) for the period 1 July 2011 until 30 June 2013 but subject to adjustment in accordance with the Consumer Price Index.
In addition Applicant Organisations may seek assistance with establishment costs.

Additional funding may also be made available from time to time throughout the term of the Funding Agreement to support specific projects as agreed between FaHCSIA and the funded organisation.

1.3 Application Packs
Application Packs are available for downloading from the FaHCSIA website or can be mailed to potential Applicant Organisations by calling 1800 008 612 or email National Women's Alliances mailbox (alliances@fahcsia.gov.au)and leaving postal address details.

1.4 Closing Date
Applications must be lodged in hard copy at the address set out in the Application Form by 2:00pm AEDST, Friday 18 December 2009 (the Closing Date).
If Applications are mailed or couriered rather than delivered in person they must be postmarked or have a date/time stamp for receipt by the courier that is prior to 2 pm on the Closing Date.
Inability to meet the deadline due to exceptional circumstances is addressed at section 4.2.

1.5 Eligibility Criteria
An Applicant Organisation will only be eligible for funding if:
- it is a non-government organisation
- it is a not for profit organisation
- it is a separate legal entity
- where it is a Lead Agency or Auspicing Body, it provides an undertaking signed by Member Organisations agreeing to their information being made available to FaHCSIA and undertaking to enter into an agreement with the Applicant Organisation to work together to provide the services described in the Application as a National Women’s Alliance should the Application for funding be successful
- the proposed National Women’s Alliance exclusively represents women, and
- it has member organisation in at least three Australian states or territories.
