FaHCSIA helps to support volunteers, by providing programs and services, and grants and funding for volunteer-based organisations.
Responsibility for volunteering policy transferred to the Office for the Not-for-Profit Sector in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in November 2010. This includes the development of a National Volunteering Strategy, support for Volunteering Australia and Volunteer Management Program funding for volunteer resource centres.
