4. Use of Funding 

Project funding may be used for the following purposes:

  • project-specific activities that are for the benefit of Aboriginal people living in the Northern Territory
  • building and infrastructure construction that is for the benefit of Aboriginal people  living in the Northern Territory
  • purchase of assets with an acquisition value over $5,000 exclusive of GST that are for the benefit of Aboriginal people living in the Northern Territory
  • time-limited project staff salaries and on-costs –  for project management or establishment of new initiatives only
  • project staff training
  • materials and equipment directly related to the implementation of the proposal such as office materials, utilities, insurances, vehicle leases, telephones, travel, book keeping, and audit
  • travel within Australia related to the proposal
  • expenses involved in evaluating the proposal.

Funding will not be provided for the following categories of costs, whether or not the proposal may otherwise meet the Funding Criteria:

  • costs that are not directly and specifically related to the proposal, e.g. ongoing staff wages, rent, overheads and administrative costs of the applicant’s existing operations
  • overseas travel (except for funding provided under the Scholarship and Sponsorship in Education and Leadership category)
  • staff relocation costs
  • costs that have been incurred before an application is approved
  • costs incurred in the preparation of an application or incurred in providing information additional to the information in an application
  • debt financing.
