Aim
The Indigenous Women's Program (IWP) contributes to the Australian Government's priorities for reducing Indigenous disadvantage through enhancing Indigenous women's leadership, representation, safety, wellbeing and economic status.
Program Objectives
The objectives of the IWP are to:
- Support more women to undertake leadership, representative and management roles;
- Increase Indigenous women's awareness of, access to, and role in local priority setting and Government funding activities;
- Address issues identified by Indigenous women as priorities in their communities;
- Strengthen women's networks and organisations; and
- Support Indigenous women's cultural traditions.
Eligible Activities
Activities that meet the aim and objectives of the IWP and respond to the particular needs and circumstances of local Indigenous women are eligible for funding.
Establishing the basis for the Activity
Applications for IWP funding must demonstrate evidence of consultation with local Indigenous women and relevant key stakeholders.
Eligible Organisations
To be eligible for the IWP organisations must have extensive experience in the delivery of culturally appropriate services and programs to Indigenous communities and must be a:
- Legally incorporated Indigenous organisation; or
- A not-for-profit body that is legally incorporated in Australia.
Relationship to Agreement Making
Where appropriate, IWP funding may be linked to community priorities set out in community or regional agreements.
Key Performance Indicators/Measures
Activity performance will be measured by using Performance Indicators including:
- Number of Indigenous women participants involved in the activity
- Number of Indigenous women participants who reported that they benefited from their involvement in the IWP activity
- Extent that the activity met the key delivery requirements outlined in the funding agreements.
