Free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor Course

The Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) is offering FRSP practitioners the opportunity to attend a free accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor Course in 2007.

FaCSIA would like to offer this opportunity to a range of service providers across the country, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers and/or workers from rural and regional locations.

On completion, participants will be qualified to deliver MHFA training sessions.

Registration

You will need to attend training before July 2007 to take advantage of this FaCSIA funded opportunity.

Ensure you indicate on the form your organisation is a FaCSIA funded service. Please note that places are limited and a maximum of two applications per organisation will be considered to ensure a spread across organisations and locations.

When completing the form, consider the course dates on the website and indicate which course you wish to attend.

Applications close 30th March 2007. So don’t delay – register now!

Participant obligations

In order to maintain accreditation, participants are required to deliver three MHFA training sessions to their local community within a year of attending the train-the-trainer course.

You can only charge a maximum of $10 per participant in your training.

Reimbursements

Reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs is available to participants only travelling from regional, rural and remote locations to the training location.

You may also be eligible for reimbursement of travel or accommodation if you are travelling from a regional, rural or remote location. To seek financial assistance, please explain why assistance is sought by providing the name of the person to be trained, their contact number, employer, reason for assistance and the amount being sought.
