Tool 9.1: Checklist—Wage Assessment tool for Australian Disability Enterprises2424

You can use this checklist to ensure that your organisation uses a fair and transparent tool when assessing the wages of supported employees. In addition, after May 2008, all business services must be paying wages in accordance with tools mandated by the Australian Fair Pay Commission. Failure to do so may result in prosecution.


Tool 9.2: Checklist—culturally competent approach to employment conditions

You can use this checklist to consider how your organisation can develop culturally competent service practices regarding Standard 9. These are continuous improvement suggestions rather than required parts of the Standard.

Things to consider:

Do we ensure that people with disability from CALD understand and are able to fully participate in the Wage Assessment process (e.g. by providing appropriate support through interpreters or advocates)?  
Do we ensure that appropriate support is provided to people from CALD when negotiating their employment conditions (e.g. by providing appropriate support through interpreters or advocates)?  
Do we ensure that there is informed consent for every agreement made with a participant/supported employee?  
Do we provide adequate support for people from CALD to ensure informed consent?
