How Standard 6 applies to all service types
Each person with a disability has the opportunity to develop and maintain skills and to participate in activities that enable him or her to achieve valued roles in the community.
Standard 6 context
Policy and program context for Australian Disability Enterprises
Australian Disability Enterprises are required to deliver their services in a way that enables a person with a disability, as far as possible, to live and work in ways that are valued by the community. In practice, this means people with disability should be encouraged wherever possible into work matching their skills and employment goals. Australian Disability Enterprises should be mindful of not reinforcing stereotypes in relation to work choices and disability types.
Policy and program context for Disability Employment Services providers
Service providers are required to deliver their services in a way that enables a person with a disability, as far as possible, to live and work in ways that are valued by the community. In practice, this means that people with disability should be encouraged, wherever possible, into employment placements that match their skills and employment goals.
