| Culturally competent service provision: Decision making and choice 6 |
| Things to consider: |
| Do we provide information in appropriate languages and accessible formats to assist participants/supported employees to make informed choices? |
| Do we ensure that participants/supported employees from a CALD are advised that they can involve an advocate? |
| Do we inform participants/supported employees about other services that may be approached to assist in meeting their needs, including ethno-specific agencies? |
| Do we have strategies in place for decision making and participant/supported employee participation that take account of cultural differences in approaches to decision making (e.g. collectivist vs individualist approaches)? |
| Do we seek expert advice to help us provide services and activities that promote the participant's/supported employee's dignity and independence in accordance with the cultural and religious background and lifestyle of the user? |
