National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children

Community Action Grants - Stream 2: Sporting Codes (applications closed)

Applications for the Community Action Grants are now closed.

Applications were required to be received by FaHCSIA, or postmarked, by 5:00pm AEST Monday 30 May 2011.

The Australian Government is committed to supporting community action that seeks to prevent the problem of violence before it occurs.  These grants are intended to increase community awareness of the issue and change attitudes and behaviours so that violence against women is not tolerated.

Community Action Grants Stream 2: Sporting Codes was restricted to National Sporting Organisations and National Sporting Organisations for people with Disability as recognised by the Australian Sports Commission, for innovative primary prevention projects aimed at engaging their community to prevent violence against women and to encourage and promote respectful relationships. Only organisations that received an invitation to submit an application were eligible for funding under Stream 2.

Funding of up to $750,000 was committed for Stream 2: Sporting Codes and applicants were able to apply for up to $250,000 over three years from July 2011 to June 2014 to fund their project. Funded organisations are listed below:
