The Northern Land Council lodged an application on behalf of Aboriginals claiming to have a traditional land claim in the Limmen Bight area. The land, on the western shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria, comprises unalienated Crown land between the Roper and Limmen Bight Rivers, Maria Island, Beatrice Island and offshore reefs.
