Stronger Futures Classification Education Project implementation plan and fact sheet on prohibited material restrictions

Thank you to all who provided feedback on the  implementation plan for the Stronger Futures Classification Education Project and the fact sheet on the prohibited material restrictions. These documents have now been finalised.

The Stronger Futures Classification Education Project is part of the Australian Government’s 10-year commitment to work with Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory to build strong, independent lives, where communities, families and children are safe and healthy.

Stronger Futures in the Northern Territory is a $3.4 billion investment and responds directly to what Aboriginal people told the Government was important to them. Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory have told us that one of the areas they would like more help with is protecting children from exposure to explicit or violent material.

The Stronger Futures Classification Education Project complements the prohibited material restrictions that have been continued under Stronger Futures until 2022 in remote Northern Territory communities.

The Australian Government expects that the education project should be developed and delivered in a culturally competent and culturally sensitive manner.  The Australian Government is therefore seeking a suitable Indigenous peak organisation in the Northern Territory as the service-provider to deliver this project.  We will also be looking to the service provider to achieve a target of 100 per cent Aboriginal staff in the direct delivery of the project to Aboriginal people.

If you have any comments or questions about the prohibited material restrictions or the Stronger Futures Classification Education Project please send your comments or questions by email to SFNTclassificationeducation@fahcsia.gov.au or phone 02 6146 3600.
