What's it about?
FaHCSIAs Indigenous Leadership Program aims to develop the leadership capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women aged 18 years and over.
The South East Regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Program aims to achieve this through:
- Inspiring you to reach your highest potential
- Encouraging you to share a positive vision for Indigenous people
- Supporting you to gain knowledge and skills and unique experiences
- Empowering your personal leadership journey and supporting you to mentor upcoming leaders
- Providing you with the skills to help you reach your goals and aspirations and inspire and help those around you.
The Program encourages participants to continue their journey in becoming inspiring and effective leaders who will make a positive difference to the lives of Indigenous Australians.
The Program contributes to the Government’s priorities in building governance and leadership as one of the seven building blocks to closing the gap in Indigenous life outcomes.

Please note places are capped and you will be advised in writing if you have been successful in securing a placement in this Program.
What's involved?
The Program is another step in your leadership journey of becoming an inspiring and effective leader who will make a positive difference to the lives of Indigenous people.
As a participant, you will have the chance to meet and work with Indigenous people from across the South East Regional area to participate in leadership activities, discuss Indigenous issues and develop important networks. You will participate in activities such as:
- Group and one-on-one discussions
- Vision and goal setting
- Listening exercises
- Planning activities
- Personal reflection and individual activities
- Working with leadership facilitators and much more.
Leadership development is challenging and at times confronting and you will receive assistance from committed facilitators and project officers who will support you to meet these challenges.
Where and when
The Program will be held from Monday afternoon 30 April to Wednesday 3 May 2012 at the Murramarang Beachfront Nature Resort, South Durras New South Wales.
Who can apply?
Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and men aged 18 years and over living in the Queanbeyan Indigenous Coordination Centre region. The region covers the NSW far south coast from Nowra to the Victorian border and inland through the snowy mountains, west to Cowra, Young, Harden and Gundagai, Goulburn, Yass, Queanbeyan and the ACT. Costs
FaHCSIA will arrange and cover all travel, meals and accommodation costs associated with participation in the program.
Where an individual has travelled via private vehicle, petrol costs will be reimbursed following production of recepts for purchase of fuel only.
