Wesley Mission Family Makeover Demonstration Project

In 2004 the Wesley Mission received funding from the former Department of Family and Community Services under the National Homelessness Strategy to undertake the "Family Makeover" demonstration project.

Families were provided with accommodation in a community housing setting for up to nine months. Each family was supplied with a computer and Internet access to help them develop computer and literacy skills. Wesley Mission provided welfare services while its specialist teams provided medical and psychiatric, counselling and family support services. Programs aimed at developing self esteem, credit and financial counselling and educational tutoring were also available.
