Organisation: Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia
The Mental Illness Fellowship of Victoria and the Schizophrenia Fellowship of Queensland are member organisations of Mental Illness Fellowship Australia, which:- was established in 1986
- also comprises the Mental Illness Fellowships Western Australia, North Queensland and South Australia; Mental Health Carers NT, and the Schizophrenia Fellowship of New South Wales
- delivers a broad range of programs to people with a mental illness, their families and carers through its member organisations across Australia.
Mental Illness Fellowship Victoria:
- was established in 1978
- provides an extensive range of community-based residential and non-residential services in six of the eight health regions of Victoria, as well as Consumer and Carer education programs Australia-wide
- has an established Research and Organisational Development Program.
The Schizophrenia Fellowship of Queensland:
- Has been operating since 1985.
- Has over 1100 members - 80 per cent are people with a mental illness or their carers.
- Provides a range of community-based educational and rehabilitation programs throughout southern Queensland.
- Works collaboratively to support its clients, making referrals as necessary to other external community services to ensure clients receive the full range of supports they need - these referrals typically cover clinical, housing, employment, income support, psychosocial rehabilitation and carer support services.
- Has created programs including:
- two 'day rehabilitation' programs on the Gold Coast
- respite programs in Brisbane and the Gold Coast
- Mind-Body-Life program in Brisbane, and
- WellWays, a peer-led education program for carers.
- Has also established two Clubhouse Programs in Brisbane and Bundaberg, which have since become independent services, and the Federation Clubhouse on the Gold Coast which supports an employment program and rehabilitation services.
- Runs other programs including:
- Harmony Support Service, which provides lifestyle support to people who are living independently within the community
- Tekapo Accommodation Support Service, which provides medium-term supported accommodation for 14 residents in facilities offered by the Gold Coast Housing Company
- Carers 65 and Over Respite Program, and
- Breakaway Project, which offers respite to young carers who have a parent with a mental illness.
- Provides services that are strengths-based, client-driven and recovery-focused. In many cases they are underpinned by Individual Service Plans, which set out clients' goals, strengths and support needs and provide the platform for delivery of support services.
- Has a strong service presence on the Gold Coast and partnerships with Gold Coast Integrated Mental Health Service; Gold Coast Hospital; Queensland Health; Disability Services Queensland; ARAFMI; Commonwealth Carelink Centres; Carers Queensland; Queensland Centre For Mental Health Research; and Gold Coast Housing Company.
- Has a strong relationship with local GPs and receives referrals from the various mental health units.

Organisation: Youth and Family Service (Logan City) Inc
Youth and Family Service (Logan City) Inc (YFS):- Is a not-for-profit community organisation providing housing, disability support, community health access, family and relationships, youth education and training, legal and advocacy services to disadvantaged residents of Logan City and surrounding areas.
- Runs programs that support people with a severe mental illness including the YFS HACC Program, YFS Job Placement Employment and Training (JPET), YFS Housing, Community Connections, YFS Youth Support Coordinators and YFS Family and Relationship Services.
- Services are strengths-based, client-driven and recovery-focused assisting clients with a mental illness to live and work in their community of choice, to maximise their functioning and social competence and to reach their optimum level of health and wellbeing. Clients produce Individual Recovery Plans setting out their goals, strategies and support needs. YFS provides case management to coordinate the services and interventions needed to support the client. These services may be delivered by YFS itself through internal referral or by external referral to outside service providers.
- Works cooperatively with a number of community organisations, medical providers and government agencies to facilitate referrals. It also has a number of established collaborative partnerships in Logan.
- Works closely with Ryan's Place, an activities based centre for people with a mental illness; Logan Child and Youth Mental Health Service; Logan Adult Mental Health Service; and, through referrals to the YFS HAAC Program, with Karakan, Canefields Clubhouse and Keystone.
- Collaborated as a consortium member with Logan Area Division of General Practice, Logan Child and Youth Mental Health Service, Education Queensland and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation (in September 2006) to submit a joint tender in the 'Headspace: National Youth Mental Health Foundation' funding round. The tender focused on a collaborative community response to provide early identification and treatment of young people at risk of mental illness and with a related substance abuse problem. Although the consortium was not successful in its application the relationships built through the process were highly productive.
- Has experience in delivering programs and services for Indigenous people and people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
- Has working relationships with a variety of local Indigenous groups that provide a variety of support services.
- Works closely with the multicultural agencies Access Inc and Multilink and regularly accesses translating and interpreting services.

Ozcare:- provided its services under the auspices of St Vincent de Paul prior to 1996
- is one of Queensland's largest providers of community services
- has more than 210 community based projects
- manages over $80 million in Commonwealth and state funding
- provides services that include mental health support services in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Bundaberg, Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton, which are recovery focused and based on individual care plans developed by each client
- provides services that offer whole of life support to clients with them providing case management and coordination, linking clients to clinical and community services that support their independence, community connection and recovery
- works collaboratively with its service partners through formalised service level agreements with some services and also participates in informal service networks, which cover financial, legal, employment, tenancy, welfare, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, health care, accommodation and a wide range of other support services, including services for people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background and Indigenous people
- works closely with the Queensland Government Mental Health Services, general practitioners, acute care services, accommodation services and other community care agencies
- has strong links with the Prince Charles Mental Health Unit and Sunshine Coast District Health Services and collaborates with around 30 other local providers of clinical and community services on the Sunshine Coast.
