International Involvement
FaHCSIA encourages and fosters strong relationships with other countries through:
- international social security agreements with other countries involving extended access to income support for Australian residents who have lived or worked overseas and for Australians residing overseas;
- formulation of policy associated with the provision of Australian income support payments for newly arrived residents and income support payments for Australians overseas, including portability, residence, assurance of support and comparable foreign payments;
- international visits that involve hosting delegations and study tours from other countries;
- participation in international forums that involve an exchange of information regarding social policy activities and research agendas of international organisations, and the sharing of ideas for strengthening domestic social policy and the development of social policy internationally.
