The maximum annual rate of a person's seniors supplement is determined by taking the combined couple rate of the minimum pension supplement and applying the percentage which reflects the person's family situation.

The first payment of seniors supplement was in respect of 20 December 2009.
Seniors supplement is paid in quarterly instalments, as soon as possible after 20 December, 20 March, 20 June and 20 September each year.
Seniors supplement is calculated and accrued on a daily basis. A person's daily rate of seniors supplement can be calculated by dividing the person's annual rate by 364.
The combined couple rate of the minimum pension supplement is indexed by CPI twice yearly on 20 March and 20 September.
A person may elect not to receive the seniors supplement. Seniors supplement is not payable for any day that such an election remains in force.
