3.9.1.65 HCC Benefits

Concessions for HCC holders

HCC holders (and in some instances their dependants (1.1.D.65)) may receive:

  • medicines listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) (1.1.P.260) at the concessional rate,
  • bulk-billed GP appointments, at the discretion of the GP (the Australian Government provides financial incentives for GPs to bulk-bill concession card holders), and
  • a reduction in the cost of out-of-hospital medical expenses, above a concessional threshold, through the Medicare Safety Net.

SA recipients

SA recipients can also receive:

  • certain Australian Government hearing services, and
  • a 50 per cent concession on mail redirection services provided by Australia Post.

In certain circumstances, some state or territory and local governments and private providers may offer additional health, household, transport, and education and recreation concessions. However these providers offer these concessions at their own discretion, and their availability may vary from state to state.
