Recipients who agree to participate are invited to have a follow up interview scheduled with a Centrelink officer, to assist in continuing their participation and checking progress against their EPP.
Follow up interviews should be conducted on a 3, 6 or 12 monthly cycle depending on the activity the recipient is undertaking and their individual circumstances. A follow-up interview will have a very similar nature to the original interview with the Centrelink officer. The purpose of the follow-up interview is to monitor the recipient's progression towards economic participation and to review the appropriateness of the plan.
Issues that should be considered in determining when the follow-up interview should take place include:
In general, where there is an opportunity to provide extra help, or a high risk of payment incorrectness or non-participation a shorter follow-up cycle should be adopted.
When a follow-up interview has been scheduled, the recipient may subsequently reschedule or cancel the interview if they wish.
Widow allowees should bring their participation record to the follow-up interview where possible as this will assist with feedback of their progress. If they choose not to return the participation record, or to access participation planning on a regular basis they will not be penalised, they will only need to attend the annual interview.
