Consultation process
The issues and proposals outlined in this paper form a starting point for discussions with key stakeholders, experts and others interested in protecting children. Other ideas or viewpoints are welcome. Important conversations have been held with State and Territory Governments, community organisations, researchers and those with direct experience of child protection systems – children, young people, families and communities. A series of expert committees, involving key community stakeholders, also convened during May/June 2008 and provided assistance as ideas were further developed.
We also received almost 200 submissions in response to the discussion paper, and the issues raised are being considered in the development of the framework.
If you are unable to download the discussion paper you can request a copy by emailing child.protection@fahcsia.gov.au and providing your mailing address.
