Implementation of the National Carer Strategy

15 October 2012

Australia’s first National Carer Strategy was released in August 2011 to encourage the community to recognise and value carers for the integral role they play in the care and support system. The Strategy is the Australian Government’s long-term commitment to ensure carers get the support they deserve from the Government and the community.

The Government has released three reports outlining the progress made and future priorities under the Strategy.

The Implementation Plan outlines how the Strategy’s priorities and ideas for action will be put in place now and into the future.

This first Action Plan (2011-2014) is a companion document to the Implementation Plan and sets out practical actions with timeframes and individual agency responsibilities for the period 2011 to 2014.

The first Progress Report outlines the progress that has been made in the Strategy’s first year of operation.
