If you are unfamiliar with the Australian Public Service, the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) guide - Cracking the Code: How to apply for jobs in the Australian Public Service may assist you with completing your application. If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander candidate and you aren’t familiar with the APS, you may also wish to view the APSC guide - Getting a Job in the Australian Public Service.
Addressing the selection criteria
The statement of claims addressing the selection criteria is an essential part of your application and provides examples of your relevant skills, capabilities, experience and qualifications.
It is important that you address each criterion thoroughly using examples to demonstrate your abilities. If any criterion is not sufficiently addressed, your application may not be shortlisted for further consideration.
Current curriculum vitae (CV)
Please ensure you have an up to date CV which includes your personal particulars, employment history, relevant qualifications and the name and contact details of two referees, preferably one being your most recent supervisor. You will need to upload this into the online recruitment system at the end of your application.
It is not necessary to provide written referee reports with your application. When applying for a position you will be asked to provide the contact details of two referees on your application form. If you are selected for further assessment, it is usual for selection panels to seek verbal reports from your referee's after the assessment.
Where a written report is requested, please ask your references to provide their feedback on the Referee Report Form [RTF 1.5MB].
Remember, a good referee is someone who is familiar with your skills and abilities and who is able to comment on your claims against all the selection criteria.
Applications must be received by 11:30pm AEST (unless otherwise specified) on the closing date advertised. Late applications need to be approved by the nominated Contact Officer listed with the position.
All enquiries regarding the job and the progress of you application should be directed to the nominated Contact Officer. You may also contact the FaHCSIA Recruitment Helpdesk on (02) 6200 9514 for advice or assistance at any stage of the process.
