I have learnt an incredible amount in the short time I have been at FaHCSIA as a graduate. I have been supported both personally and professionally, and have been given diverse opportunities to explore public service and different social policy areas to find my niche. During my first rotation in mental health, I was able to help organise and run several stakeholder forums, and had the opportunity to liaise with service providers and hear about their experiences in working with clients at the community level.
Coming into Government from the non-for-profit sector, it helped put into perspective the relationship between Government and the organisations we fund, and the work that gets done to help the people who need it most. My second rotation was in a Group Manager executive team, where I was involved in a range of high level work. Both of my rotations enabled me to learn from people with incredible amounts of experience.
The work that FaHCSIA does contributes to the betterment of society. If your passions lie in serving the community for the greater good, FaHCSIA is the place for you. The graduate program is a great way to join, with lots of training, graduate networking and social opportunities to meet your peers across other Departments.
