Note 24: Administered Contingent Liabilities
Quantifiable Administered Contingencies
The schedule of contingencies reports contingent liabilities in respect of damages/costs of $97,000 (2003: Nil). The amount represents an estimate of the Department's liability based on precedent cases. The Department is defending the claims.
Unquantifiable Administered Contingencies
There are currently a number of cases before both the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) and the Social Security Appeals Tribunal (SSAT) for which the outcomes are not yet known or able to be quantified.
Remote Administered Contingencies
There are no known remote administered contingencies at 30 June 2004.
