On 15 April 2011 the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP asked her Department to conduct an urgent review of Carer Allowance (child) and Type 1 Diabetes.
As a result of the review the Government is providing $42.6 million over four years to extend automatic eligibility for Carer Allowance (child) for carers of children with Type 1 Diabetes aged between 10 and 16 years.
