Public Libraries may wish to apply participate in the Increasing Accessibility Library Initiative

Public libraries may wish to apply to participate in the Increasing Accessibility Library Initiative (Library Initiative)

As part of the accessible communities package to support the National Disability Strategy, the Australian Government has provided $1 million (2010-11 Federal Budget) for the provision of playback devices to improve access to print material in a digital format for people with print disability through public libraries around the country.

The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has been contracted by FaHCSIA to implement the Library Initiative.  If your library would like to be considered to participate in the Library Initiative, you may apply through ALIA.  Further information and selection documentation is available at the Australian Library and Information Association website.

Applications close 4 March 2011 at 5 pm AEDST.
