Better Start for Children with Disability (Better Start) initiative

Eligible children will have access to funding and Medicare rebates under the Better Start initiative.


On 28 July 2010, the Australian Government announced new funding over four years for eligible children up to fifteen years of age with disabilities that affect their development.

From 1 July 2011, eligible children diagnosed with a sight or hearing impairment, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy or Fragile X syndrome will have access to funding and Medicare rebates under the Better Start initiative.
