The Australian Government Office for Women sought applications from community sector representatives to participate in the official Australian Government delegation to the 55th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) taking place in New York from 22 February to 4 March 2011.

CSW is the highest international meeting on gender equality and women’s empowerment with representation from countries around the world.  This year CSW will examine the priority theme:

Access and participation of women and girls to education, training, science and technology, including for the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work.

In 2011, the Australian Government Office for Women will support the participation of two community sector representatives.

The community sector representatives will be important members of the Australian delegation to CSW and provide advice to the delegation from non-government perspectives. Flights to and from New York, accommodation and a meal allowance will be funded by the Australian Government Office for Women.
