Report released on the inquiry into Better Support for Carers

The report comprehensively examines the challenges faced by carers and their families


On 1 May 2009, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Family, Community, Housing and Youth released its report: Who Cares? – Report on the inquiry into better support for carers.

Minister Macklin requested the inquiry into better support for carers in May 2008 to examine how Government could better meet the needs of carers.  More than 1300 submissions were received, with 1200 of these from individual carers.

The report comprehensively examines the challenges faced by carers and their families, raises key issues of concern and proposes recommendations for the Government‘s consideration.
