The Australian Government has committed $9.8 million to support new and expanded safe houses and expanded child protection services.Background
The Australian Government recognises that family violence and child protection issues, particularly in remote communities, are complex and require partnerships between governments and communities. The family support package has been implemented to:- expand and establish safe houses in large and remote communities;
- establish a mobile child protection team; and
- recruit Aboriginal family and community workers.

This measure provides a flexible and inclusive approach to working with Aboriginal communities to develop a responsive and relevant child protection service.
Implementation
This measure will be delivered in partnership with the NT Government.Funding will be provided directly to the NT Government to manage all aspects of the operations of these services.
